The Crestcare family and Louis Trichardt have welcomed a new face to the community, Mr Zander van Schoor. On 1 November, Van Schoor became the newly appointed hospital manager at Crestcare Zoutpansberg Private Hospital. Previously, the position was temporarily held by Mr Kobus Nel.
Zander has 16 years of experience in hospital administration, having successfully led dynamic teams and overseen hospital operations. He is a financial professional and also holds an honours degree in management, a postgraduate diploma in business management, and a master’s degree in business management from the University of Pretoria (GIBS).
Outside the office, Zander enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Monique, and their two children, Alexander and Milan. The family of four are adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts who love to explore together.
Zander accepted the job, not only as an opportunity, but as a challenge to improve and uplift the community and those around him. “I embrace the challenge of leading a health-care facility within our close-knit community because I believe in the transformative power of compassionate care and the profound impact it can have on our lives,” he stated. He went on to say that this was not just a position but rather a calling to serve and empower those around him. He sees this as his opportunity to create and ensure a health-care environment that truly meets the needs of the residents.
In such a close-knit community, where relationships matter, Zander understands the necessity and importance of health-care that truly cares for its residents. To him, it is about each individual and family who visits Crestcare. “Each individual’s story, each family’s journey, and each person’s health experience is interconnected, and I am passionate about fostering a health-care system that reflects this interconnectedness.”
For the hospital and its staff, excellent leadership is not about power or authority but about competence, care, and benevolence. By ensuring these qualities and leading by example, a supportive culture will form among the personnel and staff, creating an environment where everyone can thrive.
The most important values in the hospital and its culture are something Zander feels align perfectly with his personal values and his passion to transform health-care in the community. To him, the singular purpose is to place people at the heart of health-care.
His vision for the hospital moving forward is that of an environment where everyone thrives, from patient to doctor, from staff to allied services. He is committed to three key principles aimed at transforming health-care. The first - pioneering excellent, accessible health-care - emphasises that high-quality care should be inclusive, making world-class health-care available to everyone, regardless of background. The second - growing mutually beneficial relationships - focuses on ensuring that all voices are heard, creating a health-care environment where patients, staff, and communities collaborate for better outcomes. Finally - building trust that empowers - highlights the importance of trust as the foundation for delivering the best health-care, where individuals are equipped with the right information and tools to make informed decisions about their care.
