Competition helps put smiles on children's faces

The ladies from Ladies' Circle 4 in Louis Trichardt hosted another enjoyable potjiekos competition last weekend, this time in aid of the "Light a Smile" project, which supports children in need. The competition was held in conjunction with Feed the Hungry.

The competition took place on the farm Vijgeboomsdrift just outside town and received strong support. "We want to thank everyone who took part and came out to support our potjiekos competition," said competition convenor Tanya van der Merwe.

Despite stiff competition, the winning potjiekos team on the day was the Boer Roer team, with Limpopo Dairy in second place and the Soutpansberg Flying Club coming in third.

"We would like to thank Gertin Erasmus from Vijgeboomsdrift for allowing us to have our potjiekos competition there and we hope to work alongside each other again. We also want to thank the Soutpansberg Flying Club for their generous hearts in sponsoring two flights for our auction to raise more funds for the Light a Smile project, as well as for taking part in our mystery prize auctions," said Tanya.

The first mystery prize was won by the Flying Club’s Bianca Prinsloo, with her husband Floris winning the second mystery prize. He donated his prize back to be auctioned off again. Armand van den Heever won the third mystery prize.

The girls from Ladies' Circle 4 expressed their gratitude towards Riaan Hamman from Round Table Zoutpansberg 66, who acted as the auctioneer. He, together with Johan Kirsten from Ocean Basket, also served as the judges of the competition. "We thank you for your time and support. Without you, the competition could not have taken place," said Tanya.

The potjiekos sponsors not yet thanked or mentioned were PD Otto, Eden Oil, Helena van den Heever, Alliance Fuel, Rusita from KFC, Palm Drankwinkel, TP, Robyn, Jean-Marie, and Riana Klopper. "We also want to say thank you to PD Otto for sponsoring the first prize of a weekend away. They always support Ladies' Circle 4 with every project," said Tanya.
