The Soutpansberg Squash Club from Louis Trichardt made a strong showing in the recent winter league, which ran from 15 August to 12 September.
Four players represented the club in the A-league, which consisted of seven teams, and one player competed in the B-league. The club is proud of its performance and the dedication of its members. Erik Welman and his team won the A-league, while Heinrich Fletcher’s team was the runner-up. Jenna Beavon represented the club in the B-league.
The club will be hosting its annual club championships (doubles and singles) in October, followed by a doubles fun tournament in November.
If you are interested in learning more about squash or joining the club, visit them on Wednesday nights from 18:00 to 19:00. “We welcome players of all levels and offer a friendly and supportive environment,” said club chairman Erik Welman. He can be contacted on Tel: (063) 168-9851.

Andries joined the Zoutpansberger and Limpopo Mirror in April 1993 as a darkroom assistant. Within a couple of months he moved over to the production side of the newspaper and eventually doubled as a reporter. In 1995 he left the newspaper group and travelled overseas for a couple of months. In 1996, Andries rejoined the Zoutpansberger as a reporter. In August 2002, he was appointed as News Editor of the Zoutpansberger, a position he holds until today.

The Maelula Tshifhire Traditional Dance Group will celebrate its 40th anniversary on Saturday, 21 September. The group, established in 1984, aims to promote the tshigombela, malende, and matangwa dances.
