Junior squash programme produces rising stars

The Soutpansberg Squash Club prides itself on the selection of one of its talented young players, Richter Myburgh, to represent the Country Districts team at the upcoming inter-provincial tournament (IPT) in June.

Richter was included in the IPT team, following his participation in the recent Junior Country Districts Tournament held in Bloemfontein from 25 to 28 April, where he competed as part of the Limpopo team alongside fellow junior club member Elardus Barnard. Under the guidance of coach Erik Welman, these two have demonstrated exceptional dedication and passion for the sport. Richter’s selection honours the club's commitment to training young talent and providing a supportive environment for players to develop.

The Soutpansberg Squash Club’s junior programme is open to players of all ages and skill levels, offering expert coaching, training sessions, and competitive opportunities. Andries van Zyl

Andries joined the Zoutpansberger and Limpopo Mirror in April 1993 as a darkroom assistant. Within a couple of months he moved over to the production side of the newspaper and eventually doubled as a reporter. In 1995 he left the newspaper group and travelled overseas for a couple of months. In 1996, Andries rejoined the Zoutpansberger as a reporter. In August 2002, he was appointed as News Editor of the Zoutpansberger, a position he holds until today.
