The Emmanuel Christian School of Louis Trichardt boasts a 100% matric pass rate.

After 20 years of achieving a 100% pass rate, the pressure was on the school to maintain this record, which was not an easy task.

School staff waited anxiously for the release of the results and were delighted on Tuesday, 6 January, when they learned that the class of 2014 had all passed, thus adding one more year to the 100% record.

The class of 2014 achieved a total of 21 distinctions and 48 B symbols. Twenty-four of the school’s 35 students passed with matric exemption, 10 with a diploma exemption and one with a higher certificate.

Petunia Mametja, the top achiever, held her alma mater’s name high. She passed matric with three distinctions, in Afrikaans, geography and life orientation, and four B symbols for English home language, physical sciences, maths and life sciences respectively.

Close on her heals was Mutondi Munungufhala who achieved three distinctions (life sciences, geography and life orientation) and three B symbols (English, maths and physical sciences).

Thilivhali Netshifhefhe also achieved three distinctions (accounting, physical sciences and life orientation), and two B symbols (maths and physical sciences).

Learners who each achieved two distinctions were Hope Shateyi, Lily Baloyi and Khensani Tsongayinwe.

Following the news, the school said that they honoured the Lord for His grace. “We are also grateful for committed staff, parents and learners who all contributed to the success,” said the school this week.
