Potholes are receiving attention, says municipality

The much-needed good rain over most parts of the province in recent weeks was well received by all. The frequently wet weather, however, wreaked havoc on especially road infrastructure, with massive potholes appearing everywhere.

Last Thursday, the driver of this Roadlab bakkie needed assistance when his front wheel got stuck in a deep pothole in Boabab Street, opposite Louis Trichardt Lodge. He had to be pulled out by another vehicle.

This pothole is one of numerous similar dangerous potholes urgently needing to be fixed. The situation opposite Soutpansberg Spar, also in Boabab Street, is especially bad, with most of the road surface having disintegrated. This is due to both the recent rains and heavy vehicles using the park opposite Soutpansberg Spar as an illegal struck stop.

Municipal spokesperson Mr Louis Bobodi said on Tuesday that  the municipality was busy fixing the potholes. Regarding Boabab Street opposite Soutpansberg Spar, Bobodi confirmed that a consulting engineer has been appointed to help with the redesign of the street.
