Five suspects caught over illegal dagga plants

The police arrested a man yesterday (14 January) who had cultivated 80 dagga plants in his garden at his Tshitale-based home.

According to the Tshitale police's spokesperson, Const Maphure Manamela, the arrest was a result of a tip-off received. The owner of the house, a 55-year-old man, was arrested in connection with the illegal dagga.  

On the same day, four more suspects between the ages of 28 and 34 were arrested in Waterval after police discovered an illegal dagga plantation near their house. The dagga was valued at R25 000.

Al five the suspects are expected to appear in the Louis Trichardt Magistrate's Court during the course of this week.
