PUBLIC WARNING

Date: 21 November 2017 By:

Louis Trichardt residents, brace yourselves!

The newspaper confirmed this morning that, due to yet another massive leak on the Albasini pipeline, there is currently little to no water to go around in town.

Local DA (Democratic Alliance) ward councillor Mr Brian du Plooy urged residents to prepare themselves and save water any way they can. According to Du Plooy, a pipe ruptured over the weekend. He added that the Vhembe District Municipality (VDM) only became aware of the situation on Monday morning, when taps had already started to run dry.

“This is a major crisis,” said Du Plooy on Tuesday, 21 November.

Currently, no water from Albasini is reaching Louis Trichardt. Du Plooy confirmed that he was informed that water from the former AfriForum pump station is being pumped by the VDM to the Bergh Street reservoir to help alleviate the situation.

“We will be very lucky if we do get any water today. I will keep you updated as soon as I get feedback,” said Du Plooy.

Residents in need can still go to the AfriForum pump station in De La Rey Street to draw water from the storage tank there.

This is a developing story and more details will be published as they become available.
