Date: 23 October 2017 By: Andries van Zyl

Residents will have the opportunity to give their input regarding Eskom’s revenue application for 2018/19.

They should, however, hurry up as they should confirm their attendance by registering for the hearings before Monday, 23 October, at 15:30. The public hearing for Limpopo on Eskom’s revenue application will take place on 8 November from 09:00 to 17:00 at the Protea Hotel in Polokwane. “The National Energy Regulator (NERSA) would like to encourage all stakeholders and the public to attend and/or make oral representations at the public hearings. Members of the public and stakeholders who wish to attend and/or make oral representations at the public hearings are requested to specify which hearing they will be attending by registering at the following email address: [email protected],” said NERSA in a press release issued on Friday.

NERSA will conduct public hearings on Eskom’s revenue application for the 2018/19 financial year in all nine provinces between 20 October and 16 November. Eskom has applied for a total allowable revenue of R219,514 million. Eskom’s total allowable revenue application translates to a 19.9% average increase in electricity tariffs.

“Kindly note that if NERSA does not receive any requests to present at the above public hearings, NERSA retains the right not to hold the scheduled hearings. The dates of the public hearings might be extended, depending on the number of presenters who register,” said NERSA. Eskom’s application is available on NERSA’s website at www.nersa.org.za.
