A serious crash on the N1 north claimed the life of one person.
The accident occurred on Thursday morning in the Soutpansberg mountain pass. According to the Makhado police, it would seem that the driver of the truck lost control, causing his truck to capsize just before the 60km/h hair bend near Ingwe Hotel. The driver was on his way to deliver a load of maize meal to a client in the Tshipise area.
The driver managed to escape the overturned wreckage with only a broken leg and was transported to the Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. His passenger was less fortunate and was crushed to death under the trucks cab.
Traffic flow on the N1 was interrupted as rescue workers struggled for several hours the free the deceased from the cap of the overturned truck.
