Beware of people asking money on behalf of municipality

The Makhado Municipality have warned members of the public to be on the lookout for people who request donations in the name of the municipality.

Municipal spokesperson Mr Louis Bobodi said on Tuesday that they were increasingly being made aware of this. “We would like to inform all our private partners and sponsors to be aware of individuals requesting donations for sporting, social, recreational and cultural events,” said Bobodi. He added that not one could request financial assistance unless it was approved by the municipal manager.

Bobodi urged the public to give him a call if they need to verify whether a person has the authority to request sponsorships on behalf of the municipality. He can be contacted at Tel 082 523 5257.
