Three arrested in show weekend murder

Date: 20 August 2017 By: Tshifhiwa Mukwevho

The police in the Makhado cluster made a breakthrough when they arrested three suspects in connection with one of the two murder cases that happened during the Makhado annual show weekend.

They appeared in court on 10 August and their cases were postponed to 17 August for bail applications.

The suspects in the Ndivhuwo Mashapha murder case are Emmanuel Ndou (23), Collet Maduwa (29) and Sello Sephuma (22). Ndou is from Manavhela village while Maduwa and Sephuma are residents of Maebani village in the Kutama area.

The three suspects’ arrest came after a man was brutally injured at the Makhado Information Centre’s leisure park on 28 July. He died in hospital the following day.

Mashapha’s death was not the only brutal incident that weekend in Louis Trichardt.

In the second incident, a 16-year-old resident of Mauluma village, Shonisani Ravele, rushed towards the visible police’s stationary van along the Levubu road while his attackers pursued him. According to the Makhado police’s spokesperson, Const Irene Radzilane, the deceased told the police that there were people who were stabbing him and that that was the reason why he was covered in blood. Shonisani, a Grade 10 pupil at Patric Ramaano Secondary School, later died in LTT Memorial Hospital.

“We are following reliable links to make arrests in the murder case of Shonisani Ravele as well,” Const Radzilani said.

Members of the community with information are requested to contact Detective-Constable Tshifhiwa Mavhungu on 072 890 4818.
