Volunteers from Siloam village built the pool, after realising that they could do something with the hot spring that started two years ago. "There is no difference from the hot pools that are found at resorts, but villagers will pay nothing when they want to have a bath," said Mr Maanda Siphuma.
"It has been recorded that the temperature of the water is 70°C. If it was 100°C, there was a possibility of generating hydro-electricity. It is in the hands of the community to buy a steam turbine system for electricity generation," said Mr Paul Mugwena.
This hot water could also be used in a hydrological therapeutic hot spa, where people who are suffering from skin diseases can be treated. According to Mr Siphuma, the community must avoid going to the rivers where there are crocodiles and bacteria in the water. The community has agreed that women will use the hot pool during the day and men are scheduled to use it during the evening.
