According to the mayor, Cllr Rhulani Nkuzana, the grader was purchased following the resolution that was taken in the previous financial year. "This is also part of my 100 days action plan of service delivery," the mayor said.
The Director Technical Services, Mr Masindi Mapholi, stipulated that a plan to purchase five more graders in a period of five years is in pipeline. "We are intending to do this in order to overcome problems faced by our communities, in terms of grading of streets," he said.
He said the municipality doesn't want to spend a huge amount of money servicing the old graders, but rather to buy new graders. "We've got about twelve graders, but with only three in good working condition including the new PY180H. We bought this comfortable grader so that our operators could work long hours without getting tired." he said. He urged all members of the community to engage themselves in all municipal activities to speed up service delivery. The grader was bought by the municipality for about R1,3 million, including its service.
