Tusk Venda Casino Hotel continues to motivate a zealous, disabled long-distance runner and learner from Fulufhelo Special School for Intellectually Impaired, Rofhiwa Manwadu (23). The hotel presented him with a pair of track suits for training at a function held at the hotel on Wednesday last week.

The hotel has been sponsoring him for the previous three years with accommodation when he goes or comes back from competitions. They have also assisted him with training equipment and transport fees.

Rofhiwa has participated in different races locally and abroad and he has collected countless medals since he fully ventured into athletics four years ago. Rofhiwa, who stays at Maniini, near Thohoyandou, has spent four weeks in Ireland, in 2004 during a Special Olympics tournament. That is where he personally met Mohammed Ali, Michel Jackson and Nelson Mandela.

Rofhiwa’s manager and well-known local sports administrator Mr Elvis Booi said the track suit presentation is great relief since there is a need for his athlete to acquire more sport equipment.

Tusk Venda Casino Hotel General Manager Mr Albert Eksteen said the presentation is part of their social responsibility policy of community development. "Rofhiwa is doing a good job and we cannot just keep quiet as if we do not notice it. We support our communities because they made our business what it is today."

The jubilant Rofhiwa says he is happy that Tusk Venda Casino Hotel is contributing to his athletic development. He added that the presentation will motivate him to work hard."
