Please come back home daddy ...

MAKONDE - “Please, come back home daddy. I love you so much, even if I did not have a chance to spend my youth with you. I know you also love me, but I will be the happiest woman on earth the day I welcome you home and give you a hug.”

This is the daily prayer of a 36-year-old woman who says she last saw her father 30 years ago. Livhuwani Constance Mangale of Makonde Village, outside Thohoyandou, said her father, Mr Michel Tshifaro Mangale, left his home in 1973. He was a bricklayer who used to work in Gauteng and locally until he vanished forever in 1977. That was the last time they heard about him.

Livhuwani said her father was born on 23 June, 1923 and, if still alive, he is 81 years old. “He is old and must come back and stay with us at home. We will have peace of mind and enjoy life to its fullest if he comes back home now. We will be glad to bury him here once he dies, because this is where he belongs. I am convinced that my father is still alive because, according to the information from the Department of Home Affairs, he was never reported dead or missing. If he is dead, I will be relieved to know where he is buried, but I strongly believe that he is still alive, although he is very old.”

Livhuwani, who struggled to get an old photo of her father, but in vain, says she believes that Mirror readers will assist her to trace her father. “I appeal to all Mirror readers to help me find my father, because I know it is painful to live without a parent whom you love so much. Age is just a number – all I dream of is to give my father a big hug and show my children who their grandfather is.”

Livhuwani can be contacted at 082 579 6731.
