Tshisikule was arrested on Saturday night after his girlfriend, Naledzani Mpanama, reported to the patrolling police that he (Tshisikule) had assaulted her. Tshisikule, who was in Gauteng where he is busy recording his forthcoming album, came back home on Friday afternoon. He even had a thousand copies his latest release, The Best of Khakhathi and Friends. He also had clothes for his daughter, Zwoda, as a surprise present for his girlfriend, Mpanama.
The problem started when Tshisikule reached home late, at Mbaleni, where he is staying with his mother. The two had a quarrel and Tshisikule hit Mpanama, who stormed out of the house and informed the police, who were patrolling the area, about the incident.
Tshisikule was arrested and kept at the Thohoyandou holding cells until Sunday afternoon, after the intervention of his marketing company, Mbila Music Production. The company organised a lawyer for Tshisikule, who was released on R300 bail.
Although Mpanama wanted to withdraw the case, the police and magistrates said they could not do that. Tshisikule was fined R300 as an admission of guilty on Monday morning.
He said he was happy that the case was over and he would be able to concentrate in his album that he is busy recording now. The album is featuring Colbert Mukwevho of Harley and Rasta's Family and Jimmy Netshilulu, former Phalaphala FM radio DJ.
