Fire destroys day care centre

A nursery school, situated at 5th Street in Eltivillas, reported a structural fire on Monday afternoon. 

The school reported a structural fire, but when the firemen arrived on the scene, the flames had already destroyed the school. The fire had also spread to the rest of the premises, which doubles as a private home.

While the firemen were busy putting out the flames, residents came to help the family to try and salvage some of their household content. The fire had spread to the roof of the premises and was threating to collapse on what was left inside.

At this stage the exact cause of the fire could not be verified. An eyewitness and neighbour said that there was a mother and child sleeping inside the house. The children, who they apparently look after during the mornings, had already gone home. The smoke woke the mother up and she called for help.
