Busy Monday morning for fire fighthers

Date: 07 November 2016 By: Isabel Venter

It was a busy Monday morning for the Makhado Fire Brigade in Louis Trichardt.

The first callout the local fire fighters had to attend to, was at the Tshedza Guest Lodge in Jeppe Street. It is unclear what started the fire in the guest lodge, but fire fighters were able to contain the fire and limited the damage to the hotel’s structure. The hotel itself decided not to comment when approached by the newspaper.

Shortly after this, fire fighters had to attend yet another fire along Krogh Street, in the empty piece of land in front of the Coffee Shop, Sticky Toffee, (which has been closed for business). The fire allegedly flared up from a nearby heap of garden refuge that was set alight. With the help of the fire brigade, this fire was also extinguished.

The Makhado Fire Brigade has warned residents not to make any open fires, as the dry conditions and wind could lead to runaway fires.

In case of a fire emergency, the station can be contacted at Tel 015 516 0554/1.
