Four people burned to death

Four people were burned to death in a horrific accident along the Madombidza road on Tuesday evening.

The Makhado police have opened a case of culpable homicide for further investigation.

According to local police spokesperson Const Irene Radzilane, the accident occurred about 5km west of Louis Trichardt along the road at just after 23:00. Two vehicles, a Mercedes Benz and Nissan double-cab bakkie, were travelling in opposite directions. Near the Belkhado turn-off, both vehicles collided head-on and instantly caught fire.

One occupant in the Mercedes Benz and another three in the Nissan were burnt beyond recognition. A further three occupants were serious injured and transported to the Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital where they received further medical treatment.

The police have yet to release the deceased’s names.
