Date: 20 February 2016 By: Kaizer Nengovhela

The South African Police are looking for the mother of a newborn baby boy, whose body was found dumped in the bushes next to the information centre in Louis Trichardt on Tuesday.

Mr Siphiwakuhle Matutu, who was passing through the bush, found the body, wrapped in a black plastic bag. The spokesperson for the Makhado SAPS Const Irene Radzilane, said the police were searching for the child's mother. The police are appealing to community members who have information about the incident to notify the police.

"We have opened a concealment-of-birth case and an investigation is underway,” she added.

Radzilane said people should consider safe ways of terminating unwanted pregnancies. She also appealed to members of the public to report illegal abortionists and to help halt the increasing phenomenon where babies are born and then dumped on the street.
