Ridgeway College proud of 2015’s top achievers

Ridgeway College in Louis Trichardt’s class of 2015 has once again produced outstanding results.

Their IEB (International Examination Board) results were released on 28 December last year, with the college achieving a 96% pass rate. The two top achievers were Tshiphiri Mashamba and Nina Cronje, who both boast two distinctions.

The college’s AS Level results were released on 15 January from Cambridge University, with the college achieving a 93% pass rate. Muhammad Ayob came in top with six distinctions, viz. in mathematics, physical science, biology, English, Afrikaans and accounting. The other top achievers were Nicola Foord (with four distinctions, viz. in mathematics, physical science, biology and Afrikaans), Ben Taylor (with four distinctions, viz. in mathematics, physical science, biology and computer science), Robert Waller (with four distinctions, viz. in mathematics, physical science, computer science and biology) and Rihangwele Serakalala (with three distinctions, viz. in mathematics, accounting and Afrikaans). “Once again our students have excelled and been accepted into top universities and colleges for degrees and diplomas of their choice. We wish the class of 2015 all the best with their future endeavours,” said the college.

As for their IGCSE Cambridge exams, the college’s Form 3s also produced fabulous results, with 20 A*s and a total of 46 As respectively.

Their top achievers were Nkavelo Shivambu (four A*s, in business studies, accounting, biology and physical science and four As, in Afrikaans, English, mathematics and information technology), Ahmed Manzoor (four A*s, in physical science, mathematics, biology and accounting, and three As, in Afrikaans, business studies and information technology) and Amaara Ayob (three A*s, in business studies, accounting, biology, and four As, in Afrikaans, mathematics, physical science and information technology). Other students who received four or more distinctions were Xin Wang, Y-isha Raphael, Imaan Aboo, Fatima Dawood and Rolivhuwa Mukoma. 

“These are remarkable results which the college is extremely proud of. Our staff have shown commitment and dedication towards their students,” said the college.

Andries van Zyl

Andries joined the Zoutpansberger and Limpopo Mirror in April 1993 as a darkroom assistant. Within a couple of months he moved over to the production side of the newspaper and eventually doubled as a reporter. In 1995 he left the newspaper group and travelled overseas for a couple of months. In 1996, Andries rejoined the Zoutpansberger as a reporter. In August 2002, he was appointed as News Editor of the Zoutpansberger, a position he holds until today.
