Farm worker found stabbed to death

Date: 19 September 2015 By: Isabel Venter

In another senseless act of crime and violence, the 24-year-old Jonas Sirovheli was murdered on his employer’s farm.

The young man was discovered in a pool of blood next to the road that runs alongside his lodgings on the farm. According to Makhado Police spokesperson Const Irene Radzilane, there was a stab wound underneath Jonas’s collarbone.

His employer, Mr George Schempers, made the gruesome discovery early on Saturday morning when he went looking for his worker. “Jonas worked for me for a long time, and knew how everything worked on the farm,” said Schempers.

The police suspect that robbery might have been the motive for the murder. Jonas’ room had been ransacked and the wages that he had received on Friday were missing. The robber(s) seemed to have gained entry into Jonas’s room by breaking the windows.

The police have opened a case of robbery and murder and their investigations continue.
